How Do Bosses Actually Choose Their Employees And
Why There Are No Interesting Job Offers In The Newspapers...etc
by Rusi
It's 2011 now. Not so long ago I was watching a movie where the main hero was fighting against monsters trying to destroy the whole world in 2004. It was so long I really do not remember the movie. Maybe Arnold Schwarzenegger was in it but it doesn't really matter. The point is that the world is still here 7 years after 2004 and the rule is still the same: Same shit different day.
I don't know how old are you but I would bet USD 9 000 000 that the majority of you are familiar that it's really hard to find a good job without connections. I would bet another USD 9 000 000 that you or somebody you know found his job the very same way. Well, why the fuck this continues to happen...?
It's not really that complicated. I will point two of the main factors that make employers hire their relatives or friends:
-Keep the big bucks in the family.
-Control the company 100%.
Employers DO NOT like to have employees that are SMARTER than them because they usually talk too much, think too much, do not suck dick enough (it maybe be pussy too but it's usually dick) and someday just quit because they fail to see future development in that particular company or they start their own business. That's where the phrase: “You are TOO qualified for this job.” actually comes from. The preferred modern employees are: busy looking people (not to be confused with active), quiet and willing to obey. I'm not going to lie - I've been quite and willing to obey too because I need financial income coming every month in order to survive obviously. And that's why I'm not in position to criticize similar behavior because after me everybody has a creative side which is usually not very well appreciated by bosses who want you to follow their rules. If you don't do that you are fired. If you are fired you are in big trouble. That's why I think that you have better chances starting your own business than finding a working place where you will be happy. The problem is that most people do not have that chance or at least that's the official statement. In my opinion you don't need to be CEO, president or a prime minister in order to be happy with your job.
Maybe you know what I'm going to say but I will say it anyway: The offers for the good and interesting positions never reach the newspapers or the Internet. They are divided among relatives, friends and friends of relatives. There are exceptions but as you know the exceptions only confirm the rule. The sad thing here is that smart and qualified people sometimes don't even get a chance. Do you wonder why there are no job offers to work in a famous TV, radio or whatever. Well, like I said the good positions are already taken before you even knew about it.
I don't want this article to be discouraging or anything I just wanted to say that this is the current reality when it comes to finding a real job. I know people that are specialist or at least pretty decent at their craft and still they don't work in big corporations and stuff. At the same time I've a heard a story about how one boy found his current job after long chats and talking on Facebook with his boss. What were they talking about? I don't know but I would bet another USD 9 000 000 that it wasn't work related.
Is this situation going to change? No (with a resonance). That's just the way it is and the way it's going to be. Personal contacts and social skills a.k.a nut-swinging will remain one of the main factors when it comes to finding a good job or receiving an opportunity to show your skills. I have nothing against helping a friend or a family member but when everybody is doing it everything becomes a fucked up circle where decent people are fucked up because: “The seat is already taken. You will have to travel standing until the next station."
