Calculate The Age Of A Stranger

I would like to present you a unique way to calculate the age of a complete stranger using the following technique. The whole experiment is so powerful that your spectators will be talking about it for a long time.
Effect: The magician is working with two unknown numbers - the age of the stranger and another number chosen by the stranger. Despite that the age will be calculated with ease. Let's do it.
Step 1: The Stranger/spectator writes down on a piece of paper his age and multiply it by 10. If the age of the man/woman is 45 the equation will look like this:
45 x 10 = 450 - First result.
Step 2: The stranger/spectator has to come up with a digit between 1 and 10 and multiply it by 9. In our case the digit will be 6. The second equation will now look like that.
6 x 9 = 54 - Second result
Step 3: The spectator should subtract the second result from the first one and tell you the answer. In our case we have
450 - 54 = 396 - Third result
Step 3: Age calculation
Multiply by ten the first digit from the third result; 3 x 10 = 30
Add the second digit; 30 + 9 = 39
Add the third digit; 39 + 6 = 45 - The final answer.
It's all simple algebra but damn it works just fine. Have fun.
