For some, losing weight can be incredibly difficult. And spending day after day struggling
into your favorite pants and feeling sluggish is nothing short of miserable. For years I
suffered from being slightly overweight. But when I was nearing the 200 pound mark, I
decided to do something about it. Here are a few tips on how I lost weight safely and
fast- no gimmicks, no tricks, and no special diet pills or fads that are nothing more than
bogus.
1.Cut Down on Calories
For me, the biggest factor of being overweight was simply overeating. I wasn't going out
of my way to overeat- I just wanted to eat food that tasted yummy. But at the end of
the day my calorie intake was over 2,000. Being a female 5 feet and 10 inches tall, this
was simply more than my body could handle. My typical day would include a number 2
from McDonald's (at the time was 2 cheeseburgers and a large fry), at least 2 bowls of
ice cream (any flavor), and a Slurpee and nachos from the gas station. I would also
splurge during school times. Cutting down calories was a major benefit in my weight loss.
I cut down to no more than 1,200 to 1,500 calories a day.
2.Eat Healthier Foods
My personal belief is that you can eat whatever you want throughout the day as long as
it doesn't exceed your calorie limit- but that doesn't mean you should. Not only is eating
processed, unhealthy foods bad for your body, but they can slow down your weight loss
goals significantly. By cutting out (or at least cutting down) foods full of bad fats and
sugars; I lost weight more quickly and felt less sluggish within weeks. I replaced my
typical bad meals with a mixture of lean protein and vegetables. For instance, instead of
a Big Mac from McDonald's I'd opt for a salad with grilled chicken, no dressing. Of course,
I still had a cheat day where I would have a bowl of ice cream, but it wasn't every day.
